The agreement
Wordtandem is an independent project operated by Michael Cantrell. These terms apply when you use the Wordtandem website, web app, desktop or mobile app, and related services.
By using Wordtandem or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you accept them for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Who can use Wordtandem
You need to be at least 13 to use Wordtandem, and at least 18 to buy a paid plan. If you are under 18, you may use the free plan only with permission from a parent or guardian and any consent required by the law where you live.
Your account
Keep your password secure and don't share your account. You're responsible for activity that happens under it. Tell us promptly if you think it's been compromised.
One sign-in belongs to one person. If several people in an organization use Wordtandem, each person needs their own sign-in unless we agree to a different arrangement in writing.
Plans, minutes and billing
Paid plans include a monthly allowance of cloud voice-tracking minutes. The allowance resets at the start of each calendar month in UTC and doesn't roll over.
Running out of minutes suspends cloud voice tracking for the rest of that month. Basic voice recognition keeps working without limit.
Subscriptions renew automatically. When you subscribe, you're agreeing to recurring charges at the price and interval shown at checkout — monthly plans bill every month, annual plans every year — until you cancel. We'll charge the payment method you gave us.
You can cancel any time from your account page or the billing portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for, then reverts to the free plan. You keep your scripts.
Prices can change. If a price changes, we'll tell you before your next renewal so you can cancel first if you'd rather.
Prices are in US dollars and don't include any tax that might apply where you live.
Refunds
If something goes wrong, email support@wordtandem.com and we'll sort it out.
If it's your first payment and Wordtandem isn't for you, tell us within 14 days and we'll refund it, no questions asked.
Beyond that: we don't give refunds for partial periods. If you cancel halfway through a month, you keep access until the period ends rather than getting money back for the rest of it. Upgrading mid-period charges the difference; downgrading credits it against what you next owe.
Your content
Your scripts are yours. We don't claim any ownership of them.
If you choose to sync scripts, you give us permission to store and copy them between your devices. VoiceFollow Pro also sends a limited list of distinctive names and terms from the active script to our speech provider so it can recognize them accurately. This permission is only for operating Wordtandem for you, and it ends when you delete the content or your account. We don't use your content to train models.
Recordings are saved directly to your device. They remain yours, and we do not receive or store the video files.
You're responsible for what you upload. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to use.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Wordtandem infringes your copyright, email support@wordtandem.com with enough detail to identify the work and where it appears. We'll look into it and remove content where the complaint is valid. We may close accounts that infringe repeatedly.
Acceptable use
Don't use Wordtandem unlawfully. Don't try to break it, overload it, or reverse engineer it except where the law expressly allows that right. Don't resell access. Don't use it to harass anyone or to produce material that's illegal where you are.
The service will change
We add features, change them, and sometimes remove them. If we remove something you're relying on and it materially affects a paid plan, we'll give you notice and you can cancel.
Availability
We aim to keep Wordtandem running, but we don't promise it will always be available or error-free. Parts of it depend on services we don't control, including our speech provider and our hosting.
Cloud voice tracking needs an internet connection. Basic voice recognition runs in your browser and doesn't.
No warranty
Wordtandem is provided "as is." We don't promise it will meet every requirement, work uninterrupted, or be free of errors — and to the extent the law allows, we're not making any implied warranties beyond what's written here.
Some places don't allow that kind of disclaimer, in which case it doesn't apply to you.
Liability
We're not liable for lost profits, lost recordings, lost time, or other indirect or consequential losses.
Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose — or one hundred dollars if you're on the free plan.
Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.
Practical version: back up recordings that matter to you. Don't rely on a single tool for something you can't repeat.
Ending your account
You can delete your account any time from your account settings. Doing that cancels any paid plan and removes your scripts.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, doesn't pay, or is being used in a way that puts the service or other people at risk. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you first.
If we disagree
Email support@wordtandem.com first. Most things get sorted that way, and we'd rather fix a problem than argue about one.
If that doesn't work, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, and any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.
Either of us can still bring a claim in small claims court.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we'll tell you before it takes effect — by email or in the app — and the date at the top will change. If you do not agree to the new terms, you must stop using Wordtandem and cancel any paid subscription before they take effect.
The rest
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us.
If part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
You can't transfer your account to someone else without our agreement. We may transfer these terms if the business is sold, and we'd tell you if that happened.
Not enforcing something once doesn't mean we've given up the right to enforce it later.
