Wordtandem vs ShareSpeak
ShareSpeak and Wordtandem solve different problems. ShareSpeak is a desktop overlay you buy once, built to be invisible while you share your screen on calls. Wordtandem is a teleprompter in the browser that also records your camera. If invisible notes on calls is the whole job, ShareSpeak is the cheapest good answer, and we’ll say so plainly.
Every claim about ShareSpeak on this page was checked against their published pages on September 8, 2026. Pricing moves — if something here has gone stale, tell us and we’ll fix it.
| Feature | ShareSpeak | Wordtandem |
|---|---|---|
| What it costs Advantage: ShareSpeak | $14.99 once for lifetime access, with two devices per license. Their page says the price will rise to $17.99 after 1,000 users | A free plan forever; paid plans from $9/mo when you need more VoiceFollow Pro hours |
| Free plan Advantage: Wordtandem | None listed — there’s a 21-day refund window instead | A real free plan. No card, no expiry, no watermark |
| Video recording Advantage: Wordtandem | Not among its listed features — ShareSpeak is a prompting overlay, not a recorder | 1080p recording with the script overlaid on your camera, on every plan |
| Invisible on screen shares Advantage: ShareSpeak | Yes — the window doesn’t show up in screen recordings or shares, so call participants never see it | No. The prompter is a normal window in the browser and in the desktop app; it stays on top, but a shared screen shows it |
| Works offline Advantage: ShareSpeak | Yes — local speech models, no API key, no internet | Partly. Basic voice tracking runs in your browser and works offline; VoiceFollow Pro’s higher accuracy uses the cloud |
| Script-aware tracking Advantage: Wordtandem | Voice scrolling through Gemini, Whisper or Apple speech recognition | VoiceFollow Pro reads your script ahead of time, so names and technical terms track instead of stalling the scroll |
| Languages Advantage: ShareSpeak | Automatically detects and follows your language | English today |
| Platforms Even | Mac and Windows apps, plus a MacBook notch-bar mode in beta. Its page also links to an iOS version | Any browser — laptop, tablet or phone, nothing to install — plus a desktop app for Mac and Windows |
| Scripts Even | A scripts library with live word count and speaking-time estimates | Unlimited scripts, imported from Word, PDF, RTF or plain text, synced across your devices on every plan |
Where ShareSpeak is ahead
ShareSpeak is the better fit for calls. It is invisible to screen capture at the system level — participants on Zoom, Meet or Teams never see your notes — it runs fully offline on local speech models, it follows whatever language you speak, and it costs about the price of lunch, once. Wordtandem does none of those four things, and if they are the four things you need, buy ShareSpeak.
Where Wordtandem is ahead
Wordtandem is for making the video, not just surviving the call. VoiceFollow Pro tracks against your actual script, so a page full of product names and jargon doesn’t stall the scroll, and it waits when you do. It records 1080p with your script overlaid at the lens and never watermarks the file, and the free plan is genuinely free. There’s nothing to install unless you want the desktop window; it runs where your browser runs.

The free plan needs no card and doesn’t expire. Basic voice tracking is unlimited on it, and nothing you record ever carries a watermark.
